My handicraft objective is to create meaningful jewelry that compliments your life style. I create symbols to communicate meaning. Typically, symbols represent an idea, a physical entity or a process. I utilize the Jeweler's Saw in creating symbols from metal. In ancient Egypt, saws made of copper are documented as early as the Early Dynastic Period, circa 3,000-2,800. Examples of saws and models of saws have been found in many contexts throughout Egyptian history. Egyptian saws were set with the teeth projecting only on one side, rather than in the modern fashion with the more advantageous alternating set. According to Chinese tradition, the saw was invented by Lu Ban. In Greek mythology, Talos, the nephew of Daedalos, invented the saw. In fact, saws date back to prehistory, and likely evolved from Neolithic tools or bone tools. Today some of most skill jewelry makers who use the saw are the Navaho Indians in western United States.
